Refund and Return Policy

This policy applies to purchases from Levi Painter, a sole proprietor trading as Alder & March.

15-day returns for defective products

If a product arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect, contact us within 15 calendar days after delivery of that item to request a return and refund. This is a defect-only return policy: we do not offer voluntary returns or exchanges for a change of mind, preference, or ordering the wrong item. The 15-day period does not limit rights or remedies that applicable law gives you for defective, misdescribed, or undelivered goods.

How to request a return

Email AandMsupport@protonmail.com with your order number, the affected item, and a description of the problem. Photos can help us assess the issue, but contact us even if you cannot supply them.
We respond within 2 calendar days and provide return instructions. For a confirmed defective, damaged, or incorrect item, we provide prepaid return postage or arrange another remedy with you at no return-shipping cost to you.
If a return is required, securely pack the affected product and its included components. We will provide the mailing instructions and a reasonable dispatch deadline. Original packaging is helpful but is not required. Reasonable inspection or testing does not by itself disqualify a defective product.

We handle approved returns directly at the address below. Your refund is not conditional on a supplier accepting a return or reimbursing us.

Damage caused after delivery by misuse, accidents, improper storage, or alterations is not covered by this voluntary policy unless the problem is attributable to an existing defect or applicable law provides a remedy. Contact us before cutting or modifying leather if you notice a defect.

Refunds and shipping charges

Once an eligible return is received and assessed, we issue the approved refund to the original payment method within 7 calendar days of receipt. If no return is needed, we issue it within 7 calendar days of approval. We notify you of the decision and explain any refusal. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to post the refund.

Refunds are based on the amount actually paid for the affected item after discounts, plus applicable tax. We do not charge a restocking fee. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable, except for refunds under our 14-day delivery-refund promise, qualifying cancellations of unshipped merchandise, or where applicable law requires otherwise. Prepaid return postage for an eligible defective, damaged, or incorrect item is separate from the original shipping charge.

Bundles and separate shipments

The Tool & Leather Bundle contains the bookbinding tool kit and one 8 × 12 leather sheet. Paper is not included. The 15-day reporting period starts when the affected component is delivered. You may return an eligible defective component without returning an unaffected component. Its refund is based on the line-item amount actually paid after any allocated discount. We do not retroactively charge shipping if a partial refund reduces your order below the free-shipping threshold. If the entire bundle is defective, contact us about returning both components.

Late or missing delivery

Our Shipping Policy contains a separate 14-calendar-day delivery-refund promise for undelivered items. Its deadline runs from purchase, includes processing and transit, and applies individually to items in a partly delivered order. That promise is not restricted to products found defective after delivery.

Cancellations

Email us immediately to request a cancellation. Automated fulfillment can begin quickly, and we cannot guarantee cancellation once the supplier starts processing the order. When an unshipped order can be canceled, we refund the canceled merchandise, applicable tax, and associated shipping charges. Statutory cancellation and delay remedies remain available.

No additional commercial warranty

Alder & March does not offer an additional commercial warranty. This does not remove the express remedies in our policies or any implied warranties or other rights that cannot legally be excluded.
